About The Project

The Ethereum Yellow Paper is a comprehensive formal specification of the Ethereum protocol, originally authored by Gavin Wood and currently maintained by Andrew Ashikhmin with global contributions. As an open-access cultural artifact under the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 4.0 license, this document delineates the Ethereum protocol up to the Shanghai network upgrade, but lacks updates from subsequent Cancun enhancements. Although the Yellow Paper repository is outdated, an alternative Python Execution Layer specification remains current. The Yellow Paper can be accessed as a PDF or compiled from the source LaTeX file, enabling customization and editing using tools like Visual Studio Code with the LaTeX Workshop extension. Previous versions and translations in Chinese, French, and Vietnamese are available, supporting a diverse global audience in comprehending Ethereum’s technical framework.
