Chain Registry is an open-source project designed to simplify the interaction with Cosmos-SDK and non-Cosmos blockchain nodes through structured metadata representation. It offers comprehensive JSON files, including `chain.json`, `assetlist.json`, and `versions.json`, which provide essential metadata for Cosmos and other chains. Developers and stakeholders can utilize the schema files for recommended metadata structures, enhancing the ease of starting and interacting with nodes. The project’s evolving schemas anticipate future migration to an on-chain representation, such as the Cosmos Chain Name Service. Developers can engage with the Chain Registry Working Group on Telegram for discussions on structural changes and tooling development. The project supports a robust ecosystem of tools and interfaces, including Npm modules, Rust crates, web endpoints, APIs, and contributing opportunities for community engagement and enhancement. Assetlists align with Ethereum’s Token Lists project, serving the Cosmos SDK ecosystem specifically for IBC assets. Moreover, IBC data schemas facilitate packet relay and chain connectivity, ensuring organized metadata representation across interconnected networks. License: CC BY 4.0.
